We put together a 5 minute set in 4 days, complete with complex formations, blocking and transitions, tied together with a simple theme that prevailed throughout the set. I missed the first day of practice (Saturday), so I had to learn 5 out of the 6 pieces on Sunday, blocking one of them on that day also. I finished learning the last piece on Monday, and then we set blocking & formations throughout the next two days, as well as some light cleaning when we could spare time.
That shit was a mission, yo.
Extreme sleep deprivation, having to put off both schoolwork and my daily swimming routine, as well as absorbing so much fucking information in such a short time-span definitely tested me, but I feel like I grew alot out of it as a result. My brain literally feels like mass of liquidy slush right now, yo.
Now that it’s over, I can finally begin catching up on schoolwork, as well as get back on my swimming routine. Oh, and you can’t forget sleep. I have like triple eyebags right now, LOL.
Regardless, this has been one hell of a quarter so far, and it’s only gonna get crazier, especially since we’re just two-and-a-half weeks in.
Forreal doe, learning 5 pieces in one day is not fun.
you could usually get a rough measure of how stressful my days were by how physically fit I was. When I’m stressed, I have to do something physical to let everything out, which usually means either hitting the gym, going for a swim, or going out for a run. Hell, if I was having a particularly bad day, I’d go for a combination of the above.
Unlike many people I know, eating “stress foods” doesn’t do jack shit except make me feel more unproductive and lazy. I have to work it off and break a serious sweat in the process.
With that said, I feel like I’m gonna be going hard in the pool these next few weeks.
Break from 11am-1pm; went to Sunset Rec and swam 1 mile, ate lunch
Class from 1pm-3pm
Napped from 3:30pm-4:45pm
KCN Practice from 5pm-7pm
Samahang Practice from 7pm-11pm
One mile of swimming and 6 hours of dance practice. I wasn’t expecting to go this hard so soon, but it’s all good. The challenge is both refreshing and invigorating, despite how tired I may be right now.
Still tho, I need to start getting some rest. I averaged like 5-6 hours of sleep per day during spring break, so my body still hasn’t recovered from finals last quarter. I don’t have class ‘till 11am tomorrow, so hopefully I can get started on that tonight.
